Roach Honors College to Welcome Yoel Roth for Discussion on Online Content Moderation
The John V. Roach Honors College and the Department of Strategic Communication in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication will welcome Yoel Roth, Senior Vice President
at Match Group, to TCU on November 3, 2026, for a discussion on how technology companies
make decisions about online speech and content moderation.
The event, titled “From Values to Verdicts: How Platforms Decide What Stays Online,”
will explore the complex factors that influence what users can say and share on digital
platforms.
As online platforms continue to shape how billions of people communicate, decisions
about content moderation have become increasingly important. Roth will examine how
technology companies navigate competing interests, including user safety, freedom
of expression, advertiser expectations and policies established by companies like
Apple.
The discussion will challenge common assumptions about the power of major technology
companies, offering insight into how outside influences and competing priorities shape
decisions about online content.
